Grandpa immortalized 3ds max, Mudbox, Photoshop, VRay December 2010
I have been doing a lot of work the last 6 months and I a colleague I should post some at cgsociety. What an idea!
Although I used 2 different kinds of 3D scanners for the mesh putting everything together to a realistic whole is still much more an art than the scanner manufacturers will let you believe. It is not at all a push of a button deal.
For the body an creaform3d scanner was used and for the head a next engine laser scanner. Then after some scanner specific software the whole was cleaned and retouched in mudbox where also the hi res photos I took during the scan where applied after flattening those out in photoshop. The whole was rendered in vray using 3Ds Max
